It's made it 10 yrs 'as is'...

But to me, It looks like the wrong trusses.. they all appear to be the same depth across the span.    The tension rods should almost arch down as much as the pipe arches upward.  These appear 'flat'.  
I seriously doubt you'll gain anything with shortening the rods alone.
