We use a set of high lift shoes/runners on the bottom of our New Holland disc mowers when mowing hay that needs a lot left. New Holland sells a kit depending on your mower model. We used a high lift shoe on each end, and a few down the middle. Works great for Sudan and things like Gamma grass.
