SE MN | We have an occasional problem with wrapped round bales getting moldy in the top foot. The hay is always dry enough that it would keep in a shed, but it is sometimes tougher than ideal. We generally wrap the best hay that doesn't get rained on and with how expensive wrapping has gotten it is disappointing to see the mold when you cut it open. My guess is that it is sweating and condensing water on the underside of the plastic that causes the mold. We generally try to get it wrapped the next day to keep rain off it. Would it work better to wait a week and let it sweat even if it gets a shot of rain? This is white plastic.
