You must have skylights, eave lights, or windows in the building to make it bright enough for them to see to fly when the doors are shut.
We had the same issue until a hail storm forced us to replace the roofs on buildings back in 2000, and we left the skylights out. No more birds when the doors are shut (sliding doors with enough room for cats to come in under them).
