If I understand your question correctly, the slotted piece fits and slides into the arm of the cast piece that screws onto the end of the big accumulator (cylinder looking part). The other part of the clutch has a casting with a hole in it that pins to the frame. JD Parts should have a diagram or check someone's owners manual.
