Online auction? Usually there is a minute or more difference in ending time. With a good connection and a watch list you can keep up. Is this an instance where not winning #1 means you'd want #2, but winning #1 means your done? Enter your max bid on each and walk away. If you get an email saying you've won, go pay and pick it up.

Good plan until they came up with the "soft close" stuff. So back to OP issue, Lot 1, he bids 20K lets say, timer resets for 5 minutes, somebody bids 20,500, lots 2 3 4 and so on close during that time at say 20,000 each. Now he's stuck having to bid on the remaining item, up to whatever. |
