Odd looking wheat heads. Too much growth regulator? Herbicide damage? (Harmony Xtra at Feekes 5) Seemed like a lot of the heads were busting out the side of the boot instead of pushing out the top. Probly 5 to 10 percent are clubby looking or bent from the top half inch being stuck in the boot while the rest of the head busted out the side.

I had something like that happen last year in the oats. Weirdest looking things I've ever had, just sort of came out of the boot in a cluster, but never really spread or laced out. Apparently a combination of too heavy an application of Pallisade (12oz), too late and cool, dry weather.

The straw kind of stayed greenish through harvest, but the grain all pollinated, filled and dried down fine. Still ran a little north of 120bu, so it didn't seem to hurt yield much, but sure had me worried!
