Illinois Heartland | We live 4 miles down a gravel Twp road with the nearest neighbor 2 miles away. People dump stuff on occasion in the middle of the night. Piles of asphalt shingles with nails, old TV’s & electronics, tires, refrigerators, junk furniture, anything that is expensive to take to landfills. Have found plastic bags of feet and bones from butchered deer where they are poaching and piles of large gauge stripped insulation from wiring. Then there’s the meth leftover junk of blister packs, hoses, styrofoam cartons, tanks, and bottles of liquid spilling out.
Sheriff won’t do anything about it, says they are short staffed and mainly patrol the other end of the county. Twp Road Commissioner won’t pick it up, says too expensive on their budget and pushes it out of the road in to ditch. Too far for local news to come plus they don’t care. Tried to set up a Game Trail camera on a power pole, but it disappeared. Thought about sitting out there at night to catch them, but would probably end up getting shot. | |
