NNW Nebraska | Build a skunk trap. They are easy to trap & deal with.
If you haven't delt with them for awhile, might have 20 or 40 to deal with.
6 inch pipe. Slot in middle of the top for a trigger Flat iron to stick down. Ad some rod grid to it inside the tube. Make the slot big enough you can check to make sure it is a skunk. I made a slot across the front to put a piece of expanded metal that can be removed to dump the skunk out the front. The trigger keeps them from coming out the back.
The back of the trap has tall slots made out of angle iron that a square piece of steel for a door can drop down. Door is held up by a piece of #9 wire that us pulled forward when the skunk pushes the trigger forward.
Put some cat food in the front of the trap, sprinkle a little further back in the trap and even a little outside by the entrance.
When I catch one, I load trap on back of my atv, go to a stock tank, set the trap in for several minutes then haul out where the smell doesn't bother anyone. Could dig a hole to burry them in.
If they can't raise their tail and they can't really see you they don't spray. | |
