Subject: IRA's - Can they be combined to gain more interest return ?

central - east central Minnesota -

Can several conventional IRA's be combined to one conventional IRA ? If a person has several IRA's in the amounts between $5000 to $7000, can they be combined (to get a bigger balance) to take advantage of higher bank interest rates ? The smaller amount IRA's are at 2%, if they could be combined they could be invested at a 4.5% rate. . . . . If they can be combined, what is the process to not trigger withdrawal and tax consequences ? We will be checking with the elders CPA, but that'll not happen till next week.  TIA
