What do you want to run in the barn? if a few circuits is enough, then 10-3 or even 12-3 UF would work for underground. If you just need lights and an outlet or two, then you could do 12-2 and just 120V. Or if you're so cheap that you'll run a combined neutral and ground you could run 220V with 2 conductors and add a ground rod at the barn, should be one there already. $1-2/foot for the most basic, $3/ft for 2/2/2/4 AL or $6 for 4/0 AL.
