Subject: RE: Another question for Canadians only, not really

London, Ontario, Canada
We are world leaders in research. That comes from our University teaching schools that receive grant money to do cutting edge research.

Now with that being said there is ABSOULUTY no correlation between that and what Canadians receive as far as cancer and other major disease treatments. Treatments are overseen by the bureaucrats that decide treatments based on cost. Older cheaper is used rather then cutting edge.

Friend was injured in US and was flown to Detroit Hospital for life saving treatment. After 3 weeks there he was returned to London University hospital. The first thing done was to x-ray and see extent of surgery procedures he had received in the US. Dr. came into his room after tests were complete and asked if he had friends in the US medical system. He replied No. Dr. went on to say he had hip components that he wasn't even aware of. Left him with "If you had had that accident here you would have been in a wheelchair the rest of your life"

Another thought from a previous post upon The fact if we as Canadians don't like what Canada has to offer we are free to travel to the US to use theirs.

IT's That BS. mentality that drives me crazy. I am paying for a service that is in "CRISIS" as reported by everyone. Last I read 50,000 Canadians do go to the US every year for treatments. If we are in crisis now where would we be if we didn't have that avenue to take some of the load off a system in Crisis? Thank God for that capitalist system to be there just in case our socialist systems lets us down. Its only our lives we are dealing with.

1 final thought is that this topic started by a simple question shows something else. If Canadians think the US posters on here are polarized and extreme in their views this clearly shows Canadians are no different. Times are changing where the conversations can't even take place anymore. At least this forum allows us to have a open discussion as it's almost impossible to have these conversations anywhere else.

Sad.
