Wife uses dawn in the dishwasher all the time.....you just don't use a lot. Never a issue. Uses it with some of the pods and other stuff. I maintain a handwashing stance to dishes....cuz I don't want to have an accident. lol

Sounds like you put in some dishwashing detergent like Dawn which is made to be used in the sink and not in the dishwasher. A major misstep.
