se montana | The mining itself made the land better than it ever was with freshly seeded pastures everywhere. The reclamation is pasture without cactus , sage brush, and cheatgrass. It’s pure gold for grazing.
It was a good gig for the community with jobs and huge tax revenue in the day. The power lines don’t really hurt much. The days are numbered for the power plant because they can’t afford to update to the new emission regs.
I talked to a plant engineer the other day and he said that all the electric and wind power in the world is increasing the need for coal. They’ve never busier. Haha
I’m not surprised that you met a coal hater in the gallatin valley. They seem to flock to that area and congregate there. Missoula as well, If you ever get a chance, walk into a Missoula bar, announce that you are a coal miner as well as a logger, and ask if spotted owl is on the menu.
