Yeah, you never know what a chamber of commerce will come up with...I think they needed a spring festival to complement the Fruita Fall Festival, which has been going on for about 100 years, so that's what they called it. It has been pretty successful, other than in the pandemic of course. I actually know the great-grandson of Mike's owner, he still farms North of town here. He said he got really tired of taking phone calls about Mike when they first cooked up the festival...the farm where Mike lost his head is only about a mile from my place, it has been subdivided into McMansion plots now.
You're welcome to come, of course. I usually try to get down there for a Navajo taco & a beer, & listen to some music...car show is always interesting too.
A couple of local characters came up with this sticker several years back, the city fathers didn't think it was "appropriate", but it kinda took on a life of its own...
