Genetics matter in stressed conditions

This debate has been going on for many years. Some think the corn rolling protects itself more. Last year I started digging roots of corn that looked more stressed and found very small root systems and the better looking corn and bigger roots. When I checked yield at the end of 2021, the bigger the roots, the higher the yield.

If it stays stressed in July and August, my thought is to dig roots of as many genetic types as possible and score root size.
