SW Iowa | Penn State has research about herbicide effectiveness on burcucumber. Mesotrione and higher rates of atrazine, sprayed as late as possible, looked to me like one of the better ways to try to hold them back with common stuff. Have heard good things about Peak, but it seemed hard to come by and problematic for rotation to soybeans.
Due to the late emergers nothing is 100%... so be prepared for a multi-year battle. The field I have them in, I treat a little differently than everything else. If you have them bad, it's probably worth considering a late-season app with a high clearance rig or airplane, and/or harvest that field early if you can. | |
