North Central Kansas | My dryland corn has been outyielding my dryland milo by 30-60 bushels. The primary reason has been the timing of rains. Corn has been filled by the time the rains quit and the subsoil runs out. Also depends on the timing and severity of the heat. We have just gone through a pretty significant heat event here. Early corn was stressing. My mid may corn was hanging in there. Stress is good for it now. Rain shut off late last year and the milo pulled it out of the stalk like it is supposed to. Ended up with 400 acres of down milo. Planted less milo this year. | |
