Teff is probably the best summer annual for market hay. That said, I'm with the crowd that says let what is already there grow. If you are in this longer term, kill the grass in July and plant an orchard grass alfalfa mix in early August. Nothing to harvest later this year, but great hay the next 4-6 years.
