Don't know exactly where you are coming from or going to but I would suggest I-75 to Tifton, then US 82 to Montgomery, then I-65 to Birmingham, then I-22/US 78 to Memphis, then I-55 up to MO. That avoids Atlanta and Colombus. Might be some 2 lane in there (don't know for sure) but the scenery will probably be better and (most) of the people less crazy.
