Depending on timing I have seen some of the dairy farms dragline manure to soften the crust. How many gallons are you planning to run? 8,000 gallons would be roughly equal to 3 tenths of an inch of rain. I wouldn't think that would be enough to crust, but lots of factors that could affect that.
