Middlesex County, Ontario | I try to stick with business class machines like the Dell Latitude or Lenovo Thinkpads. I have a Microsoft Surface as well and it is tougher than expected and still running great 8 years later, I actually use it for Solidworks in meetings all the time.
With a little bit of computer knowledge you'll feel comfortable taking on a little bit of risk. The business class machines are designed to be somewhat serviceable. You can buy a refurbished 2 year lease return and realize significant savings. Best off to replace the hard drive with a Samsung SSD as soon as it arrives, the refurbished computers seem to either have spinning disks or poor quality SSD's.
I'd wager that your Mac has lots of life left in it and is more than capable of email, excel, and web browsing. Erase and re-install the OS. If you don't know how to do that then you could pay someone a small fee to do it for you. |
