| Windows Defender comes free with your Windows OS. Plus, it has the added advantage in that it doesn't open any potential hooks or risks in the OS.
In order for a good virus protection, the AV must get down into the kernel level of the OS (the very heart-beat of your computer) to protect it. The AV also needs to be updated, make sure any vulnerabilities are plugged, etc. Windows has all these plugged and protected.
