Subject: Re: applying NH3 with a field cultivator

Near Richmond, IN
I used a field cultivator for years and didn't run it any deeper than I normally would. I thought I got less loss than I did with knives but it's hard to compare. It helps that you're (at least we did) applying in more places across the width so that you're actually applying less at each sweep than you would at each knife. I always thought it was the best way to apply it and it saved a trip across the field. Never had them freeze up either. The only problem I saw was if you only wanted to work it once you would leave the tracks from the tank.
