Subject: RE: 1 Big Wheel Compared to Duals?

Southeast Florida
This is a good question IH Driver.
Duals are a lot cheaper to replace than on big single tire. Dual tire sizes are also more readily available than big singles are so you might be waiting for a while. Big singles have there place too on tractors, they're used on 9230-9330's and equivalent STX and TJ series tractor's in California and Florida where they have congested road's to move equipment down. The rubber track machines are also getting more popular both locations to avoid the over width issues. Both FL and CA have laws now enforced by DOT in both states, if a piece of equipment is 14' or wider they must have proper permitting just like wide loads. Any slow moving piece of equipment has to be escorted with proper light's and the correct endorsements have to be on the escort vehicles drivers license. I don't know what the fine is for not having the proper endorsement is in California but I personally know it's a $5,000 fine in Palm Beach County, Florida. I don't want to get into any politics on this page but it's something that the voters have voted in both states. The same voters are 99% transplants to those states also.
