South Georgia | Ah, you mention recirculation. I didn't think of that, I'll bet that's what the deal is, he's trying to put enough defoamer in the tank to keep it from foaming as he's spraying, with the agitator going.
Don't do that, if you can help it. If you have a positive displacement pump, which has to have a bypass, then I don't know what you can do about it, other than maybe bypass back to the suction side of the pump (should work, but I've never seen or heard of a pump set up like that). If you have a non-positive displacement pump, then that's a non issue. Once the level in the tank gets low, turn off the agitation. If the tank's only 1/3 or 1/4 full, and you're in the field spraying, it doesn't need agitation anyway, and the agitation just makes foam, so cut it off and your problem is solved.
