| I've had an IPAQ and currently use a Dell Axim, both were fine in most light, really bright sunlight will be tough no matter what brand you get.
If I were you I'd check on the software you want to run first and let that be my initial guide into which type of hand held you get.
I know my first one some years back was a Palm and the software and synching was a real pita. Then the Ipaq and it got a lot better because I could synch to my outlook on my home computer. Now the Dell and with the new version of MS hand held software it is really nice. Don't know how Palm has adavanced in those years to compare them, but I'm happy where I am at.
