Subject: RE: Row cleaners

We have used them for the past 10 plus years. They work great. Best in no-till on bean stubble. Move almost all the fodder but very little (no) dirt. Makes a nice smooth path for the row unit to plant into. We don't have any experience in corn stalks, although a neighbor does. Once in a while he throws enough trash to knock a drive chain off. When planting in worked ground we remove the spring tension and let the terra tine float, it usually moves root balls but does not make a trench.

The biggest problem is mounting them. There is not normally enough room to have a unit mounted cutter or fertilizer. We wanted fertilizer open on our new planter this year and did not have room for the terra tine so we went with Martins. Next year we are going to need to figure out how to mount the terra tine and remove the martins. If you can mount them and get everything else you want we think they are great.
