Subject: Planter closing wheel system

Am currently running a CIH 1200 planter. I am looking to go to a Deere or Kinze with Precision meters next year. I will be planting corn and soybeans most likely no-tilling the beans. My question is in regards to the closing systems of both Kinze and Deere planters. How do the rubber press wheels perform in terms of fracturing the seed trench and getting good soil to seed contact especially in no-till and minimum till conditions. On my 1200 planter I had martin spaded closing wheels which did a good job of fracturing the sidewall. Just wondering if the rubber closing wheels will perform as well or if I should plan on having to change to a spiked tooth closing wheel instead. I am also wondering if it is necessary to run a drag chain with these units. My 1200 has the press wheel which leaves a level surface and I am wondering if the drag chain is necessary.
