I'd forgotten they did introduce a feature with Mavic Pro where it stored an image of where it took off from - which further enhanced return accuracy.
With GPS alone it can easily be a few feet out but near enough.
I nearly always catch mine rather than have that low slung camera and gimbal get in dust/mud/gravel
