Subject: Complaining Bobby - Seed Tenders

Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463
Last fall I complained about grain cart augers being on the wrong side.
Well I have another 0000 about the stuff the companies are putting out.

Auger or belt seed tender telescoping downspouts are too long.

The one I am using is a Freisen model 240. But I am sure there are many others that get me all PO-ed.
The model 240 is a belt conveyer, swings about 180 degrees.
Nice starts every time on the first pull Honda engine.
With a switch on the end of the spout to start and stop the flow.

Really was looking forward to using it. Did I get a surprise!

It doesn’t help that it looks like somebody took the spout off, layed it on the ground and drove over it with a Tiger tank.
And then someone else taped the control cord right to the middle of one of the tele sections. Good place to put it, so bend out of round that it would never slid.

That spout is so long that it didn’t take me long to just pull the tender in behind the planter, then move the planter forward or backward to get the right distance.
If I am lucky I can get six boxes with one sitting.

And then if I find enough muscle to pull the spout all the way out, it is at too flat an angle for the beans to flow.

I wish that spout was half as long and slid easy.

Been very tempted to unload the burn corn on my own seed tender wagon, then take the spout off the ‘free’ tender, and run the seed beans into my own rig.

This is the second seed company tender I have used. The first was one of those with the almost straight up auger. Seems like that that had the only Honda engine I could not get to run.

No more seed company tenders for me.
