Subject: Welcome to Tier III emissions

I've got an '08 F-250 crew cab 4x4 and 3.73 gears with 65,000 miles and it still only gets between 11.5 and 13.5 mpg (55 - 77 mph). This kind of poor mileage is not limited to just Ford, but any brand (Cummins, Duramax) running Tier III emissions ('08 and newer). It has been said that improvements are noticed when the particulate filter equipped exhaust systems are replaced with aftermarket reprogrammed versions, but these are costly ($4,000+).
