What happened at the beginning? Did the tractor quit on you or did it just one day refuse to start?
Sounds like lose of compression if it won't run on ether. And to top it off you are getting white smoke? Does it try to start=hit on one or two cylinders? Hard to see how valve adjustment would get that far out if it ran one day and then didn't start the next.
