Peotone, IL 60468 | Our first Kinze planter is a 2600 16/32 as we are interested in better soybean seed placement as compared to previously drilling beans. After years of planting corn with JD 7000 & 7200 planters, we did our first 40 acres of corn (May 12) with the Kinze. Overall, we are very happy with seed placement, spacing and general mechanical operation, with the exception of one thing: There seems to be very little ground clearance with the push units in the up/30" planting position. Our ground is admittedly "fluffy" after having been disked 2x to get ahead of the greenery which we have had no previous access to due to wet conditions. At some points the push units are dragging or even have the coulters in the ground and looks like we were planting 15" rows. With no previous Kinze planter experience, I am wondering if this is fairly common or am I missing something beyond flipping up the little stops to raise the push units? Are the newer Kinzes designed differently or better? Thanks for any input. | |
