southern MN | I had always heard that some washers were put on the wrong side of the bracket to make the grinding off by the thickness of the washer. Donno, your way sounds good too. Aslo to save $$$, they did not assemble the thing on the ground to check it, just went with measurements. Perhaps the less handling of that big mirror the better, so might not have just been the $$$$.
To correct it they did the computer thing - but that gave blurry pics, basically they had to fix up the pics with Photoshop. Not exactly what was wanted.
So the first repair was to replace the other, smaller, lenses. Thwy were ground to correct the effect of the bad main lens.
Kinda like bifocals, it sure makes a better picture, but oh what they coulda had if the big lens was right to begin with!
