I really dont think it is your hyd pump.  If it were, you would have hard steering, and possibly pump chatter.

It might need a readjustment in the rockshaft control.  If you don't have a guage to check SCV pressure, get your JD mechanic out there...he can probably diagnose it, and fix it pretty quick.  The rockshaft control may need a kit (o-rings and springs).
