Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | To convert to neg ground so it matches the rest of the world
1 switch cables at the battery
2 switch ammeter wires side for side on the meter
3 switch primary wires on the coil
4 Polarize the generator AFTER switching the battery cables, but BEFORE starting the tractor.
Theories about pos ground range from it being thought to be the "correct" direction for power to flow to that it causes less corrosion. Reality is that it seems to make no difference
Pa Kettle, starters with field coils do not care wether connected pos or neg ground.
Only situation where the starter is polarity sensitive is with a permanent magnet field starter like most small engine starters and a very few newer cars.
