Dad and I were just talking about this yesterday. We've been using one on a field that's got dry clay that turns to wet clay in a matter of 5 ft, then 10ft further its silty loam. Add in some springs in the hills, and there's no way it'll dry out on it's own. Where he ran my coulter tool (JD 230 discs with 22" waveys) and we left it for half a day or so to dry out it just made the difference between planting and not. I have about 6000 invested in this tool and I think it's paid for itself several times over. Even the cost of a new one in a year like this will pay for itself, sounds like you're in the same situation as us. Good luck....
