That would be the motor I'd pick. We've had detroits for years, and the newest is a 12.7 with the same specs in a KW. Been happy so far. Can't talk about fuel mileage. It's 40-50 gallon fills when you stop for pop at the station, and nobody keeps track of miles. Trips to the feedlot are 30 miles one way, so the tanks are always below 1/2. No need to pack any more weight then we need.
