In Ontario , we use Diaphram pumps ( John Blue or Hypro ). They seem to do a very good job on planters and drills for 2-12 gpa rates. I have installed an electric pump on a Veggie planter , only reason was because of the very low ground speed ( 1-2 mph ) , we didn't think a ground drive pump would be very accurate at that slow speed. Our JD 1790CCS came with a John Blue Piston pump , it did a very good job in its first season of use.
