We've been using poultry litter for quite a few years. Application for corn is usually done in March or April. We are 100% no-till. Get an analysis for the litter. We come back with sidedress N based on nitrate tests.

What kind of old hayfield? From my experience perennial sods kill easier in the fall with less herbicide and you may be able to leave the plow in the shed. An old hayfield surely can grow a good crop of corn but I can't see the need for plowing. Just my experience.
