Not to be a smart, but around here Eddie if it gets that dry I've got much bigger problems. I hear what you are saying and agree there is a risk of some loss with surface banding the 28%, but I can't get a handle on the probability of loss.

The big question I have is do I need to inject it with the coulter knife like I have been or can I dribble it into the edge of the cleared strip and rely on the notill conditions' damp soil and a 1/4" of rain? I can't find any definite answers.
