Subject: RE: Starter or not on corn????

That's pretty much the way it is here as well. Very strong opinions around here. I haven't seen an economic benefit on my farm (and others that I deal with) using starter. I have seen a visual response early on, but never seen it translate to net dollars in the end. You would need about 4 bpa to pay for $25 worth of starter. In years past ($3 corn and $18 starter) it took 6 bpa to breakeven. I would need to see a consistent greater than 4 bpa to make it worthwhile. Haven't seen it on a consistent basis. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I don't push starter, although I will take the order for those that insist on using it.

My opinion is purely based on yield monitor information and my personal side by side on my farm. My side by side showed absolutley zero difference.
