Northeast Louisiana
In the poultry producing areas of AR, the soil is poor. Thin, rocky, hilly. Often poultry litter is applied to pasture land and not tilled in. Much of it will wind up in the water.

As far as using poultry litter in row crop production, we use it all the time on freshly leveled ground. The combination of the nutrients and organic matter really seems to help bring back the cut spots in these fields. It has been less and less available to us here in our area, and with the fuel prices, shipping is getting more expensive. But it's worth it freshly leveled ground.

We've used the human waste product as well, they called it Humus. It wasn't raw sewage, it was composted, which is supposed to kill any bad stuff (viruses for example) that could be in it. We had it custom applied.
