Panhandle of Texas | Milo harvest is not going as fast as we would like it to, here (for us) in the TX panhandle. Normally, we have a freeze by now, and the stalks are generally dead, and the milo is dry. This year, the stalks are green, and the milo is ~barely dry enough (well, in some cases/days it is NOT dry enough)...If the stalks had been dead, though, when the ~wind machine~ hit today, the milo would have been FLAT on the ground! We are all dryland. This milo is making more than 5K, but less than 6K lbs./ac. This pic does not show things good at all (milo appears green but it's not); (pic does show my wide guess row, right about the middle of the pic, though! oops) I took the pic w/my cell-cam. Anybody else having trouble getting their milo to dry down? |
