earlage will not be as energy dense and has the husk and cob in it that is just filler, no real nutrient value, the benefit of earlage is the cob and husk make an excellent rumen buffer and essentially eliminate the need for any roughage in a finishing ration and no need for grinding the corn, HM will be much more energy dense, and much quicker and cheaper harvest, with less storage volume requirement unless you want to store or feed a bunch of "straw", it is all in what you are feeding, how you are setup to feed and what equipment you have available to you.
