Kansas | Hi greg
Actually, we have put what some may refer to as algae in our stock tanks. We call it "moss". It keeps the direct sunlight off the water and actually keeps the water cooler than say a stock tank out in the open with no covering whatsoever in the water or above it.
From reading about the study in your post, it would seem it makes no difference. I've always wondered a bit about cattle when they urinate in the pond right in front of the other one and all she does is pick her head up and move it to the side a bit and continue drinking.
Truth be known about the "moss"......I think grandfather started this lil ordeal when he brought home fish he caught at the lake and wanted to release them alive for later eating and put them in the stock tanks.
All of the nutrionist sites though do advocate a "Fresh clean water supply". | |
