Southwest Missouri | A few years ago the University did a test of cattle water. They had two groups of calves. They were fed the same. The only difference was water. One group had clean well water. The other group had the worst scummy pond water available. Both groups had water hauled, so that volume could be measured. There was NO statistical difference between the groups. They drank the same volume and gain the same number of pounds.
This was contrary to my thinking. I like fresh cool water. I figured cattle did as well. We put in waters so the cows could have fresh water. I guess I was wrong. Now, I just make sure they have access to plenty of water. If they do not care about the quality, neither do I. | |
