Not the same. Carry is the difference, more typically in cash,between two months time. I.E. Oct-Mar carry = X, Oct-Jul carry = Y. Basically how much am I or anyone getting paid to carry this commodity to some point in time. At a minimum needs to be enough for interest and storage, the first is easier to estimate than the second, if your own storage.
