What are they planting? What conditions? Is the intention for replacement parts to be supplied long term?
There are a lot of questions associated with what you are attempting to accomplish. That planter unit may not be ideal for the crops being planted and is fairly complex.
The projects I have been around have typically focused on the flexibility of a simple plate planter and the durability of something with a shoe opener. If you want this to be something that can be copied easily, can you just avoid hydraulics at all?
There are numerous companies in the US and overseas building walk behind planters with a variety of unit styles. My advice is to keep it as simple and as absolutely durable as possible.
